Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using PermitScope (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, waitlist users, and subscribers.
2. Description of Service
PermitScope is a SaaS product currently in active development. The Service allows construction professionals, inspectors, and AE firms to upload building codes, standards, local amendments, and regulatory documents, and query them using AI-powered search and retrieval. Responses include source citations with code section, chapter, and table references. The Service is provided "as is" and features, pricing, and availability may change at any time without prior notice.
3. Waitlist and Early Access
By joining our waitlist, you consent to receiving email communications regarding product updates, launch announcements, and early access invitations. We do not send spam or sell your email address. You may request removal from the waitlist at any time by contacting us.
4. No Guarantees or Warranties
PermitScope is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated responses. The Service is intended as a supplementary tool and does not replace official code publications, jurisdictional interpretations, or the professional judgment of licensed architects, engineers, and code officials. Users must verify all information against primary source documents before acting on it.
5. Bring Your Own Keys (BYOK)
PermitScope may allow users to provide their own API keys for third-party AI services (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic). You are solely responsible for the security, usage, and cost of your own API keys. PermitScope does not store, share, or have access to your API keys beyond the minimum required to process your requests. You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of the underlying AI provider.
6. User Responsibilities
You agree to: • Use the Service only for lawful purposes related to construction, building code compliance, and permitting. • Not upload documents that contain proprietary or confidential information without proper authorization. • Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise compromise the Service. • Not use the Service to generate content that violates applicable laws or regulations. • Maintain the security of your account credentials. • Verify all AI-generated information against primary source documents and local authority interpretations.
7. Data Handling
Documents you upload are processed to enable search and retrieval. We take reasonable measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security. Uploaded documents and query history may be stored on our servers or those of our infrastructure providers. We do not share your documents with third parties except as necessary to provide the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, AI processing).
8. Intellectual Property
The PermitScope name, logo, and interface are the intellectual property of PermitScope. You retain ownership of documents you upload. By uploading documents, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process and index them solely to provide the Service to you.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PermitScope and its founders, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to errors in AI-generated responses, downtime, data loss, or any decision made based on information provided by the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may delete your data after a reasonable period following termination.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on our website.
